Some Kotlin books compare the Java features/language to Kotlin.
How did knowing that Java 9 was scheduled for release in September 2017 affect your material in this book as Java 9?
When/if you were comparing Java features/language to Kotlin did you mention that Java 9 was slated to have feature X if it did?

Java 9 does not really introduce any new language features other than the module system (Jigsaw). The module system is much more of a rethinking how the Java platform is structured, than a language feature, so it doesn't really play a role in feature-by-feature comparisons of different programming languages.

When we were writing the book, Kotlin did not have any dedicated support for the Java 9 module system (and the module system itself was still in a bit of a flux), so we were not able to provide any coverage of it in the book. Current versions of Kotlin (1.1.50) do provide dedicated support for the module system, so we'll definitely cover this in the second edition of the book if (when) it appears.

The more I read about your book and the direction that you are planning on taking the more appealing it becomes.

Thanks so much for all your work on this book/resource.
