Count number of affected rows SQL

Hey guys,
I am using java.sql.Connection, java.sql.PreparedStatement and java.sql.ResultSet to update data in a table,
How can I count number of afftected rows ?

Preparestatement.executeUpdate() method returns the number of affected rows, or -1 if something went wrong.
If you are using ResultSet to update rows, I guess you're looping over a ResultSet and invoking updateRow(). In this case, I think you should use a count variable.

If you're looping through a ResultSet and doing one database update per row, a different strategy where you write one UPDATE statement which does all of those updates at once might be a good idea. Of course it might not be feasible in your case, but then again it might be feasible.
