The title says it all.
Why does the soft input keyboard allow me to input two dots?

Can you share a bit more?
  • Is this a regular EditText?
  • Is this a multi line input?
  • Are you allowing for letters and numbers?
  • Are you allowing for rich text?
  • Did you attached a TextWatcher to the input?
  • Are you filtering events that this control can respond to?
  • What version of Android is the program running on?
  • Have you tried with different versions of Android?
  • What is displayed in the LogCat when this occurs?
  • Have you experienced this same result when running on a physical device and an emulated device?
  • Have you tried on different physical devices?
  • Do you experience the same result when you copy and paste two dots into the input?
  • Does this happen with all of the inputs for just one or two?
  • Have you tried restarted the device to see if this "fixes" the problem (could be memory related?
  • What soft keyboard is being used (Google supplies at least two different ones for each language)
  • Some people can speak/use two (or more) different languages e.g. French and English. Do you fall into this category? If so what happens when you change the language?

Can you copy the contents of the logcat showing the full text of the error message for the crash and paste it here.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
