Hi again Cay Horstmann and java ranchers.

Would you recommend to take the new Java 9 certification exam (once it get released)?
I'm asking since we will have a new Java version each six months.

Or, would you recommend to wait until version 11, since it's supposed to be a long-term support release?
How do you recommend for people WITH NO certification to choose what version to take?

(so many questions )
Thanks.

I really can't speak to that--I don't know much about certification exams. Maybe someone else can chime in?

Cheers,

Cay

Whether you sit a cert exam depends on whether you have a degree or similar already, your level of experience, and what sort of job you are looking for. If you already have the OCP8 exam and a steady job, is there any point in sitting the Java9 version?
So we can't advise you without know lots more details.

If you need a certificate and you are prepared I don't think you should wait for version 9 to be relased (if ever).

You may also want to read what Jeanne wrote on the topic: here.

Thank you for your responses.

I'll take what Jeanne  says in her post.
I actually hold OCA and OCP Java 8 and I used her books to be prepared for the exam.
I am asking this because of the rapid releases Oracle is planning.

Regards!
