Anybody with experience using TFS (Team Foundation Server) version control ?  My situation is --- I have codes in TFS repository but I have never created branches yet.    If I create a "master" branch, questions:

Does the repository keep two version of codes, one for the original code and one for the master ? i.e. whatever I change on master won't affect the "original" one ?  i.e. does TFS always keep an implicit default branch that matches to the initial stage when no branch is created ?

Does your TFS team project use Git or TFVC?

TFVC.  suppose my project structure looks like

MyTeamProject
   --WebProject
   --JavaProject

How to create a branch "NewBranch" that includes WebProject and JavaProject ?

MyTeamProject
   --Project_1
   --Project_2

    +NewBranch
        --Project_1
        --Project_2

Honestly, I don't really know a lot about TFVC, and what I've read about it thus far seems quite confusing to me because I'm used to Git.

Have you gone through the MSDN documentation on creating branches? Do you have a sandbox server somewhere where you can play around with it to learn how everything works?

Here are some links that I found, I'm not sure if they're helpful for you:

please buy my thing and then I'll have more money:
