Greetings Kathy, Bert & Elizabeth. I’m studying for OCP 7 to 8 upgrade with Boyarsky & Selikoff, but may benefit from looking at a second book, and having used K&B for Java 7 I would be eager to read yours. Are there any pointers within it to items from the OCP 7 ‘syllabus’ that have been dropped from 8 – I don’t intend to discard anything I’ve already learned, especially if not actually deprecated, but it would be good to know what I can temporarily let slide from my immediate thoughts to maximise exam-readiness in my low-capacity shortish-term memory banks

Just to add that Boyarsky & Selikoff does have some mentions about this, but the more the better. I also intend to use Enthuware, so this should give further guidance.

It's a good idea. I would say that we do it occasionally, but not reliably. Sorry about that, we'll think about that for next time.

That said, we printed out both sets of objectives and referred to them constantly and cross referenced them. I recommend that all candidates become VERY familiar with the objectives, they're only a few pages.

Here at CodeRanch, we have a wiki page that lists what material on the OCP 7 is not on the OCP 8.

Thanks Bert and Jeanne. Yes, I had a look at the wikis before I began and have them filed away in my list of resources
