Dear Authors,

First of all, thank you for releasing the new book!

What is the next version of the OCP exam ??? is it OCP Java 9 or 11 as Java 11 will be LTS version, or there is no expected significant changes in Java 11 that makes it the next version of the OCP exam ???

and what is the expected date of the retirement of OCP Java 8 ??? as i've seen the retirement of the exams OCA/OCP java 7, 6, and 5 this year in this thread.

Thanks,

Hi Ahmed,

We're in touch with the certification folks at Oracle, and when we have news, we'll share it on JavaRanch first!

I think also any person who want to take the latest version of the exam and he already scheduled the OCP Java 8 and found OCP Java 9 or 11 has been released or the retirement date of OCP java 8 is soon , it will not be good news for him.

Wouldn't somebody interested in the most recent exam watch the website for announcements of such dates? Why would you sorry about passing an older exam?

Hi Campbell,

I wouldn't sorry about passing an older exam, I know that some companies demand their employees to take older versions from OCP 8 , and I think there are still companies even work with Java 6, but for people who don't have those restrictions and want to take the most recent version and already scheduled the exam and before taking the exam they found that a newer version of the exam has been released I think it would be not good news for them.

Yes, I can see that some people would be annoyed.
