Have you tried sky diving and did you enjoy it? I have and yes I did enjoy it.
In sky.jpg you can see me up in the air and in ground.jpg I've circled the cars as seen from the air.
My car is one of the smaller black dots.

About a year after this I did the CN Tower Edge Walk and then I did some indoor sky diving.

I did sky diving to try to get over my fear of heights (well its the sudden stop which hurts) but it did not help too much.
I'd very much like to do become a certified sky diver so that I could go alone without anyone attached to me, however to do that costs a few thousand Canadian dollars.

I'd also like to try out Paragliding, however this will is also on the back burner. Check out https://www.YouTube.com for some Paragliding videos.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still not a fan of heights and I'm not that good with ladder either.
Doing something like this and using a ladder are two completely different things and there is different risks with both.
However nearly everything has some risk attached to it.

I did indoor skydiving. I didn't make it through my session and would never try it again.

I totally understand that this is not something for everyone and I'm glad to hear that you've at least tried it once.

I've rappelled out of hovering helicopters and various cliffs. That was close enough for me.

What? Sounds like there is much more to the story here and this could be fun as well.
Or maybe this was work related or disaster related, both of which may not be too fun.

I can safely say that I've only been on a plan three times in my life. Once to go from Detroit to Florida, once to go from Florida to Detroit and once to go sky diving.
I'd like to try a helicopter ride, maybe someday when I get the extra funds and get into better physical shape.

Bear: Voluntarily or because the military made you?

Pete: I've been in a helicopter (with Paul W incidentally). I thought it would be scary, but it was really fun!

Lucky you, I'm glad you enjoyed you excursion.

Yeah, it's kind of "funny" in that I'm not good on a ladder or with heights, sometimes I even get a mild case of motion sickness when riding in car.
Yet, I want to jump/fall out of an perfectly good helocopter/plane as long as I have a working parachute and I want to do a few helicopter rides.
Incidentally I'm told that the Niagara region (including Niagara Falls) in Ontario Canada has some breath taking beautiful scenery and I'm only about a three hour drive from there.

I get motion sickness in cars/buses when there is traffic/potholes/etc. The helicopter ride was rhythmic like a train so that wasn't a problem.

Bear's comment that it was military training he was doing when he rappelled out of hovering helicopters and various cliffs reminded me of some of the stories dad used to tell me about his days in the military. When he first joined one day they were lined up around the deep end of a pool, fully clothed with their uniforms on and weighted backpacks on their back. A drill sergeant would walk along and ask if any of the men could NOT swim. Dad, being naive in thinking it would mean he would be spared any pool time, put up his hand. Next thing he knew he was pushed into the deep end of the pool and sank to the bottom like a rock. Flailing his arms and feeling a rush of panic seemed to continue for minutes on end, before someone finally dove in and brought him back up to the surface. He learned when to speak up and when to keep his mouth shut.

As to doing something like skydiving...although I am not afraid of heights, I confess I was one of those people who wouldn't dare go on a roller-coaster, or even the ferris wheel. As along as the ride never left the ground (think bumper cars) I was fine. Yet oddly enough, as a kid living the life of a military dependant, whenever it came time for us to be posted somewhere else, I was the first on the plane, hardly able to contain my excitement. Maybe now that I am in my 50s that excitement has long since worn off.

I did, and did I enjoy? Well, it was interesting to try, but probably no more jumps ahead. My Dad did his military service in Afganistan, he used to be a paratrooper, and what he says about the sky diving, is that second jump is the most scary, so I'm very reluctant to try again.

I also did try bungee jumping from the crane (75 meters high) - that was way more scary.

I don't think I'd like to try bungee jumping and the closest bungee jumping spot for me is about a 11 hour car drive away if I want to stay in Canada, which I would for something like this.

I have tried Paragliding and it is not as scary as I thought.

Just make sure that the instructor is fully certified.

It is really cheap as it only cost me US$27 at Indonesia.

Because the United States has dangerous bungee jumping? .

Bungee jumping may not be considered safe any where. However, in the event that something does go wrong I would choose to be in Canada where health care costs are less. Plus my family is in Canada, so they would not have to worry/deal with out of country hassles.

When I was in my twenties, I caught the flying bug, and decided to go for my pilot license. About five years later, when a friend decided to go skydiving, I didn't want to do it. After all, and this may be due to the training, why would anyone want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane? ...

My husband, also a pilot, has said the same thing.

That is actually a standard response from pilots.... and ... the response from skydivers is I believe ... "there is no such a thing as a perfectly good airplane"....

Well... There are those who fly machines and there are those who themselves fly (or more technically, 'fall'/'glide')

I wish to sky dive someday, but I am scared of heights and I too have motion sickness for non rhythmic movements. I have done paragliding once with my wife and it was fun.
