Hi everyone,

This is my very first post on CodeRanch, and thus I'd like to share a little bit of my experience with the 1Z0-808 exam, which I just got my score. I already got some experience in the Java world so I could assimilate some questions very easily.

Firstly I bought "OCA Oracle Certified Associate - Java SE 8 Programmer I" from the authors Jeanne Boyarsky and Scott Selikoff. Not sure though if this is the best option but at least covers all the topics that fall in the exam.

Well, I did all the exercises on their website (Sybex), which I believe they are not excessively hard, but I'd say as difficult as the real test.

I also purchased the mock exams provided by Enthuware, which I have to be honest, if I hadn't taken these mock exams I would most likely to fail because only the questions from the book are not enough and don't cover a great deal of the situations in which you'll face in the real exam. Moreover, the questions provided by Enthuware are a bit harder than the real exam.

I've been studying for this exams for six weeks and it turns out I got 82%, which is kinda disappointing since I studied insanely hard aiming at least 90%, surprisingly my average on the exam was lower than the mocks exams from Enthuware, but at some point I was very stressed out and maybe that led me to lose some marks, usually I don't handle very well with the pressure of exams.

Well, now I'm going over the studies for 1Z0-809, do you guys, who also went through this process, have any suggestions, recommendations, hints to help me out to pass and hopefully got a better score?

Thank you all, I hope sharing my experience may help someone looking for help in the studies.

Welcome to CodeRanch Raphael.

Congratulations on passing the exam, have a cow. It does not matter if you get 70% or if you get 90%, all the maters is if you get enough to earn your certification.

When you get a few moments please add yourself to the OCA Wall Of Fame, https://coderanch.com/wiki/659980/Ocajp-Wall-Fame.

If you next challengage is indeed the OCP 809 exam then you may want to look at some of the stories on the OCP Wall Of Fame, https://coderanch.com/wiki/659976/OCPJP-Wall-Fame.
This could save your some frustration, time and money as you find out how others have prepared.

Raphael,
Welcome to CodeRanch and congrats!

The biggest thing to note is that the 809 exam is a lot harder. So be sure to allow more time for studying.
