Passed the OCPJP 8 (1ZO-809) today with 72%! I gave myself 6 months to finish both the OCA and OCP, having passed the OCA in mid-August this exam was a bit touch and go for me due to the heavy syllabus- but it was worth it in the end.

The resources that I used were Enthuware question banks (can't recommend them highly enough!) and the OCP 8 study guide by Boyarsky and Selikoff. I thought the exam questions were on a par with Enthuware, all my mock tests were between 60-70% so 72% seems a decent gauge of my level. I didn't really know what questions to expect but in my sitting I found there were tons of questions on the later chapters of the Boyarsky book, mainly IO,NIO2, JDBC and Concurrency- must've been an unlucky randomisation as these were my weaker subjects!

I wouldn't recommend setting a deadline to take the exam in future, rather book a sitting when you're ready so as not to feel the pressure- however circumstances at work and personal commitments meant I didn't really have a choice. I'm very thankful for the knowledge gained about the foundations of Java and the JVM which I would probably just ignore when coding my own personal projects.

Finally, I really want to thank CodeRanch for being a useful forum for Java-based questions and references!
