Hello,

4 days ago i received an email from Oracle (Oracle Certification Program) which states that the OCP exam for JAVA 7 retires on 12/31/2019. Is that true ? I thought that the exam retires in 2018. On their website they write that the exam retires in 2018. I am confused to be honest.

Don't know if you can follow the link i got in the email > http://www.oracle.com/us/education/eblast/certi-javase7oca-javase8ocp-102018-5170674.html?elq_mid=126693&sh=26132309222608112620121318232208293518252625&cmid=OUNV180813P00044

Is this a last minute change or did they make a mistake?

Thanks for any info you might have.

It looks like you are right and they extended it with an extra year.

If you want to be sure just contact their support people: Oracle Support

They had mistakenly written 2019 i had also seen that, now updated to 2018. So yes it's December 31, 2018. See here and here.

Dear Partner,

Please be advised that on
May 31st, 2019 we will retire the Java Platform, Standard Edition 7 Specialization.

Note that the corresponding exams will be retired as well.

Please tell us where that inforation and the picture come from. It seems to conflict with the Oracle links Jeanne posted earlier.

You can check right now above links in quote. Probably when you got the email that time that mistake was not noticed/rectified by them so you got date of 2019 but later they corrected that since mail already sent to you so you have wrong date text. If you still skeptical about the date you can forward the email you received to oracle help/support.

The certs are still listed as retiring December 31, 2018.

Note there is a separate thing for companies called the Java specialization. I don't know when that retires, so it could be different. But it's not the cert!

Sorry, guys.
I did some research.
Specialization != certification (although there is dependency).
Specialization is given to business partners by some criteria, one of which is presence of certified employees (Java certified in our case).
Below are details about Java 8 Specialization.
So, the final word: Java 7 exams expiration date not changed, seems it is Dec 31 2018.

Yes it is. They announced it 8 months ago. That's plenty of lead time!
