I am planning to prepare for Part 1. Ideally I should compete with myself and prepare on regular basis, but stuck in daily routine. Anyone else planning for same and open to join online [setting daily targets for progress].

Sorry for non technical thread in such a forum.

I am considering starting my study again, and setting some milestones to at least get Part I out of the way in Q1 2019.

I took the mandatory training course (Architect Enterprise Applications with Java EE) back in June 2018, and I have been too busy with project work to focus on the study.

Week 1 is a good time to start that planing and study again.

Hey,
I am planning to prepare for OCMJEA 6. I will start preparing from February end. Before starting preparation on this, I need to know whether any new version of OCMJEA  is coming in 2019. If any new version is published and I just pass exam 807, then the effort will be in no use. Please let me know if anyone has any update regarding new version of OCMJEA  or when Oracle is going to terminate OCMJEA  6?

Hi,

I am planning to take up the OCMJEA architect exam.
I have already prepared for the part 1 Exam but i cannot take up the exam without taking up one of the mandatory training provided by Oracle as listed in the below link.
https://education.oracle.com/oracle-certified-master-java-ee-6-enterprise-architect/trackp_212
I have decided to take up the Java EE 7: New Features 2 day live class which is the cheapest among all the mandatory training which costs 21000 inr.
Problem is the class is available only on april 11, and that too is not confirmed because oracle needs atleast 2 people to provide the training and they told me if there are 2 or more people planning to take the course on an earlier date they will even consider providing the classes earlier.
Please let me know if anyone is interested so we can enroll and complete the step 1 of mandatory training and then start preparing for the part 1 exam.

thanks.

Hello Barry,
Have you already cleared 1z0-807. I have just started with Paul Allen's book. Requesting you to share your preparation and experience which will help future aspirants like me.

Thanks.
Swapan.

Hello All,

I have just started preparing for OCMJEA having relevant experience in J2EE Technologies. Looking for a study mate (online of course) and bump ideas/progress with each other. Please let me know. Thanks.
BTW, I started with Allen and Bambara book. It is superficial at best.

Hi Pavan,
I am preparing for 1z0-807. I have read a list of book along with Allen and Bambara.  You can discuss your questions/topics here with me.

Hi everyone,

i am also serious about giving this exam (1Z0-807) and acquiring this certification.

However, i have a doubt. Is this course and certification still relevant ? I mean, current JEE version is 7 and Java version is 11 and this course is prepared on JEE6 (Java 6).

Hence should i go ahead with preparation OR wait till certification for JEE 7 comes out ?

Hi Campbell,

Thanks for the warm welcome to the Ranch. The book name is OCM Java EE6 Enterprise Architech Exam Guide by Paul R. Allen and Joseph J. Bambara. I am about half way through the book. And so far, the topics covered are not dealt with enough depth. There is only very high level coverage of the topic. I understand that I need to study other books along with this book to prepare for the exam. But somehow, I am not happy with the level of depth that is covered in this book.

Swapan and Shueb,

Please send a private message to me so we can try to coordinate how best to collaborate.
Thanks

Hi Campbell,

I came across a specific example for you . When explaining the Interceptor (AOP) at page 201-202 in the said book (Oracle OCMJEA Exam Guide by Paul Allen and Joseph Bambara),  the text fails to mention the relevant annotations like @InterceptorBinding or @AroundInvoke. It just beats around the bush and touches the topic casually without giving any basic technical details on the topic. Unless I look at other sources (like Javaee 6 tutorial), I would not be able to grasp the inner workings of an Interceptor.  I did not mean to be extra critical of this book but that is my opinion. No hard feelings if you are connected in any way with this book or its authors.

Hope this helps.
Thanks
Pavan
