I just finished listening to Service Proxying with Matt Klein - a podcast from Software Engineering Daily about Envoy Proxy - a type of frontend to augment micro-services by providing commonly-needed capabilities such as load balancing, rate limiting, circuit breaking, and observability/tracing.

I found it really interesting - maybe give it a listen whenever you have an hour behind the wheel, at the gym, or walking the dog.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
