A Jumpin JForum Day to y'all.  That's right.  Can you believe it has been ten years since we went live with the JForum software here at the Ranch?  You can read about past years features here. This year we have two shiny new features.

Enhancements to cow polls
We made a bunch of enhancements to cow polls. Check out the 2018 favorite book thread to see some examples. In particular:
  • Images and links can now be used in cow polls
  • People's choice! Everyone gets a vote (or two with pie). So you can vote your cows and then additionally vote thumbs up/down
  • Once a poll is closed, the winner is highlighted
  • The person creating the poll can pick what order the results should be displayed in (ex: alphabetical, but most votes, etc)

  • We are now on Git
Ok, you got me. This isn't a user facing feature. But it does make it easier for us to develop other new features. You can read about the migration in these blog posts:
  • migrating the forum software
  • how not to migrate from svn to git
  • how to use a script to migrate tags
