Does anyone know which Java exam is comparable to the C# 70-483 exam? Could that be the Java SE 8 1Z0-808 exam? I could not find straight answer on this question on the internet.
The reason I'm asking this is because a C# 70-483 exam or a comparable Java exam is one of the prerequisites for me to get a job at a certain place.

Maybe you have found one of the things nobody knows. What sort of level does 70‑483 test? Microsoft provide a helpful description of the exam, saying it is for people with a year's programming experience. There are things in it I don't think are in 1Z0‑809, e.g. validating JSON data and LINQ (LINQ is specific to Microsoft). I think you won't find an exact correspondence between pairs of exams from different companies, and I have never sat a cert exam myself, so I am not sure, and I am not going to give you a straight answer. Sorry. But I am going to tell you two things:-
1: I think 70‑483 corresponds better to 1Z0‑809 because it includes threading and more IO and because they recommend a certain level of experience.
2: The people who will give you a straight answer are your prospective employers. Phone them, say you are considering applying and ask for confirmation that 1Z0‑80? is the equivalent of 70‑483.
What do they say about qualifications? Would they accept a degree? It is worth passing 1Z0‑808/809 anyway.
