Removing blocks in brick breaker game?  RSS feed

I am trying to construct a simple Brick Breaker game but have run in to some troubles.
My first problem is that when the ball hits a block it gets removed, but the ball still reflects on the empty space where the block was before.
The grid-pane with the blocks is not centered, how do I place it in the center?
The ball acts really strange when it hits the small spaces between the blocks, it squeezes in between the blocks really easy.
