Hi I would like to share my experience obtaining this certification. I prepared for 3 months about 90mins each day after office hours.
There are couple of reasons I decided to go for the cetifications
1. Though I am using java 8 in my job, I never had good understanding on the core concepts.
2. We are going to upgrade the java version to 11, so I thought having strong foundation on functional programming concepts do help me in understanding java 11 better.
3. It is always good to have a appreciation letter for our learnings. So, a certification is the right thing.

there are many more advantages in taking certification.

However, I read java API docs, OCP book by  Jeanne Boyarsky and enthuware mock tests. This combination is unbeatable.

Here is my progress report on the mock exams:

wow... while I was browsing coderanch, I had the impression that it is easy to create a profile, create posts. But I am wrong. I never use this forum. I can't edit my own posts nor delete them. Totally disappointed. Bye bye for good.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
