I ran to take the Programmer I (1Z0-815) exam the day after it was announced.  Anyone here thinking of taking it should really read my blog post

In short.. it resembles the previous OCA 8 but is definitely not the same exam.  It's more on the level of difficulty of the OCP 8 exam.

If you're thinking of taking the exam, feel free to ask me questions and as long as they aren't about very specific aspects of the exam, I will do my best to answer.

Hi Scott !
I wonder what sort of questions were about Modules topic.
Are they only technical ones, with code snippets?
Because there is one objective "Describe the Modular JDK" - seems it's more theoretical.

All of the above.  I went into some detail in my blog post.

Hi Scott!
I'm currently learning for my OCA Java SE 8 exam. I plan to take the exam at the start of July 2019.
Does this new exam has any implications for me. I'm the following doubts:
1. Is the OCA Java SE 8 exam still valid, if valid then how long?
2. Is there any change for the OCA Java SE 8 exam structure.
3. After the completion of OCA Java SE 8 what should be the next steps?

While you are waiting for Scott's response, here are some details that you might find helpful

1. Is the OCA Java SE 8 exam still valid, if valid then how long?

Yes, it is still valid. No one knows for sure, but based on what Oracle has done in the past, this exam will be valid for at least another couple of years.

2. Is there any change for the OCA Java SE 8 exam structure.

No, there is no change in the OCA Java SE 8 exam structure. It is still the same.

3. After the completion of OCA Java SE 8 what should be the next steps?

You could go for the OCP 8 (1Z0-809) exam or the OCP 11 (1Z0-816) exam.
