It used to be that way. Once you got to the right number of posts, you would be offered the job. Now, we don't have so many empty moderator spots.
The new way is that a current bartender or sheriff recommends you to moderate a forum. They'll post a message in the "Moderator's Only" forum.
I suggest you e-mail the moderator for the forum where you've done the most posting.
