I'm SCJP and SCWCD. Could any one guide me which track should I follow now, Java Architect or JCert.


Which WebSphere exam is included in JCert?

Test 488 (or 156): IBM WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server Edition for Multiplatforms, V4.0

Any idea when IBM will offer their JCert Level 2 (Developer) track for WSAD? I really don't want to invest the time in studying up on VAJ.
I recently passed test #488, and I'm looking to pass #489 this month. I'm also SCJP2 and SCJD2.
I'd like to do the IBM Developer and Enterprise Developer tracks, but the holdup is that their Developer track is so VAJ-based. (Didn't they have a "Websphere Application Server" Developer cert until just recently?)
Anyone know what IBM's plans are?

You don't have to take VAJ test, go ahead with WebSphere. I got my Solution Developer certification with OOA&D and WebSphere AppServer.
Later on, I passed the Enterprise Connectivity test and WebSphere AppServer Advanced Edition for the Enterprise Developer certification.
VAJ is phased out, and WebSphere Studio for AppDeveloper is the new product.

Simon,
I find that some objectives of Enterprise Connectivity test and WebSphere AppServer Advanced Edition test are similar. How long does it take to prepare the 2nd test when you pass the 1st. What was your sequence to take the tests?

Enterpirse Connectivity will cover EJB and RMI, CORBA, C/S architecture to some extent.
While IBM WebSphere AppServer Advanced Edition is more focusing on WebSphere product knowledge in J2EE.
I passed Enterprise Connectivity before I went for WebSphere. Coz, I think WebSphere is much easier to me.
All product knowledge can be learned through experience, from redbooks. While OOAD and Enterprise Connectivity requires solid background, if you want to pass with high scores.
