this is regarding my previous post. i have spent 5 days and two sleepless nights trying to package and deploy the converter sample app in j2ee tutorial from sun. i have read a lot of documentation (from infocenter and redbooks) but no dice. i am beginning to think twice about websphere. it seems that it just makes a programmer's life miserable.
Can someone help?
thanks in adavnce.
regards,
allan

Allan,
I can't help but I can share the pain. I'm currently going thru the same learning curve deploying applications in WebSphere. I view the huge learning curve as a J2EE issue, and not a WebSphere specific issue. Does it really have to be this complicated to deploy a frickin application.
Anyway, good luck to both of us.
Mike
By the way, FWIW, James posted a link a couple of threads back on what looks to be a good WebSphere 4.0 tutorial.

I will be going thru it in the next couple of days, and will give you some feedback.

Hi,
I Think as WAS4.0 is new and having lot of difference in look and feel and architecture as compare to previous versions. It's just a matter of time i think and Just remember "Little Learning a day will keep us going".
I will suggest don't lose just be focus what u want and study first theory and then ofcourse some pratical R & D on WAS4.0(AE)
I am also new to WAS4.0 and had never worked on previous versions.

I think its good if deploying web app was a difficult task,it would keep websphere/j2ee folks in demand and a well paid job 2,
