I have this book. I'm reading the chapter regarding JDBC:

It says

also find this code along with more details on setup at
http://selikoff.net/ocp

That link no longer seems to be valid.

Also when I run

I get the error:

Are we meant to compile and run this code. It would be better if example was easier. Please advise if we should be following steps here to run code or where to find source code. Thanks

Have you followed the instructions exactly as in the book? Do you have Java7u55, which is about six years old, installed? The book assumes that; if you have a more recent version, you will have to change the CLASSPATH text.

And the CLASSPATH  was correct?
And which line did the exception occur on? What did the code say?

This is a Java 8 cert book. We assume you are using Java 8. We didn't test with Java 7 and I wouldn't expect it to work. So the first thing to do is change your classpath to use Java 8.
