Has anybody used sqlserver with websphere?
do you have to purchase merant drivers for sqlserver or does websphere come with it.how much of an approx cost is involved if our company were to buy it if it doesn't come bundled with websphere.
Any help will be appreciated.

Check with IBM sales rep., my personal understanding(from what we heard from IBM rep), the Merant SequeLink driver is OEMed with WAS. There is no license fee invovled.

Hi,
I've used Websphere 3.5 with Merant 5.1 for SQL Server and also Websphere 4.0 with Merant 5.1 for Oracle.
I was told by the Merant sales rep that it is bundled with Websphere 4.0 AE as standard and there is no license fee to pay. I was told that it is meant to come on a CD with your websphere installation pack.
However, I'm not of the licensing for WAS3.5 - again check with your IBM or Merant sales rep.
One thing to bear in mind is that we found the Merant driver for Oracle to report SQL errors that we didn't get when using the standard Oracle drivers - consquently we are using are no longer using Merant for Oracle - we still use it for SQL server though and not had any problems.
Cheers,
Steve

Steve, you are just lucky with their SQLServer driver then. We have bad luck here, one SP related issue doesn't exist on DataDirect driver(their type4). But the type4 has other prominent bugs, which isn't part of SequeLink.
