Hi All,

I have exactly 25 that I have assigned myself to study for Oracle Certified Associate 8 1Z0-808. I am in the process of moving jobs have a month before I start of with my new employer which means I can spend as time as I can to prepare for the test.

Veterans and gurus out here, what would be the most efficient way to prepare ?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Ranch

There are all sorts of things you need to do, but one of them is to write code similar to the exam examples and see whether it goes wrong.

Zeeshan,
Welcome to CodeRanch!

Buy a study guide. (Disclaimer: I've written a study guide.) The authors have already done the work of determining what you should study and explaining it in a clear fashion.

Since you are short of time, you might want to buy an e-book so shipping time is zero.

Also, the Enthuware online mock exams are excellent once you think you know the material.

25 days with full-time study is more than enough to prepare and pass OCA 808. But you need to layout a plan upfront and not deviate from it . My recommendation would be:

1) Get the certification study guide written by Jeanne & Scott. Read through each chapter , try out code samples in your fav IDE (some say no IDE but I think if you are short on time, you should stick to IDE) and take end-of-chapter exams. Don't worry about the results.

2) Buy Enthuware mock exams. Its not expensive at all. Take a test or two and see how you score. If its less than 65%, quit taking tests and go back to reading the chapters from the book that you seem to need more grip.

3) Resume with mock exams. Rinse and repeat 1,2 & 3.

If you consistently score above 70% on enthuware,  the actual exam will be a breeze. Please comeback and post how you did. All the best!!

Hi Zeeshan,

Please let me know how you got on, I've also got some time to study for certification before returning to uni... and wondered about timescales and preparation routes.
