Hi,

Some time ago i passed the OCA 8 exam. I didn't force myself to learn and pass OCP 8 immediately after OCA.

I want to go back to OCP learning but now we have also a possibility to pass the OCP 11 (part 1 and part 2).

I've done some research and found this page https://enthuware.com/which-java-certification-exam-should-i-take. So i wanted to ask if this is a true that i can try to pass OCP 11 part 2 and skip OCP 11 part 1.

If you have different, better ideas how to deal with it (maybe there is a smarter way to accomplished this path) - please let me know

Seba,
It is true that you can go straight for the OCP 11 exam. I think this is a harder path than taking the OCP 8, especially while there aren't  yet study guides for OCP 11 part 2. I blogged about it

Ok. Thank you so much. So... would you recommend to pass the OCP 8 and then OCP 11 upgrade?

It depends on your time frame and goals for taking the cert. If you need to get the OCP quickly, I recommend the OCP 8.  If your goal is OCP 11, either path is fine. But I'd recommend waiting for more materials to take the test. (Starting with the OCP 8 concepts still makes sense.)

The goals matters because an OCP 8 might be enough

When it is used for evil, then watch out! When it is used for good, then things are much nicer. Like this tiny ad:
