Amazon lists a release date of Tuesday. I'm not sure if that means that they are releasing them for shipment on Tuesday or they already shipped them and they expect the first copies to arrive Tuesday.

Regardless, we get some free copies as the authors. Here's my stack: (and before you ask, I've already determined who gets one)

The book promo winners will be drawn later today or tomorrow. It's a conflict of interest for me to draw winners for my own book promo and book promo teammates are having a busy day.

Congratulations

Does that mean you wouldn't want us to draw you and Scott as winners?

Or the winners could be posted right after this . Tim and I didn't coordinate our timetables.

Authors are not eligible to win their own book!

Well, but you could win Scott's book, while Scott yours.

P.S. an amazing pile and congratulations once again both!

Not these physical ones. The publisher sends directly one copy to each of the four winners. Different publishers have different policies on what countries they ship hard copy books to.

The books in the picture are my personal copies to give to friends and family.

What about the book availability on safarionline (a.k.a. learning.oreilly.com)? Is it exclusively distributed by amazon?

It’s available everywhere books are sold including Barnes and Nobles, Amazon, and Wiley Publishing.  Not sure about Safari online as that doesn’t cover the print edition.

All three of our Java 8 books are on Safari Online. I don't remember how much after they came out that happened but I know it wasn't right away.
