To take advantage of the 50% discount I’m going to buy one of the courses needed for OCMJEA. I am not sure if I should go for the cheapest option (Java EE7 for 1170 without discount) or do a course that would be beneficial for my development (Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Using UML)?

Is the quality of the courses any good? UML is definitely something I need to learn to use better but I’m not sure the price of the course is worth it?

Thank you for any advice!

Gillian,
Welcome to CodeRanch!

I got my certification before the course requirement so I can't attest to the quality. I do want to direct you to the full list of courses that give you the course credit/requirement. I see three avaialble as self study for the $1,170 price. OO Analysis and Design, Java 7 Programming and Java EE 6.

I could recommend the Java EE 6 one as it is the same topic you are studying for the exam.

Thank you Jeanne!

Do you mean training on demand or self study? The latter apparently does not fulfill the training requirement...

Java EE 7: New Features -- this training on demand course available only for Japan. I ordered this but order was cancelled. Oracle did not communicate me anything. After so many follow up, call and email communication they said that this is for only Japan. But they are showing courses available in USA.
Do not buy this course. And oracle training/certification support is frustrating.

Oh wow, your post came just a few hours too late. I bought the course today and when I tried to pay, the system indicated an error. I have also been mailing and calling with oracle today to get it fixed. I have not succeeded yet but thank you for the heads up! Now I know what’s wrong.

I’m very agitated with Oracle because this is the third time I am having problems with ordering/paying.

Hello,

Today is the last day of 50% offer, I plan to take course "Architect Enterprise Applications with Java EE TOD" inorder to to statisy mandaory requirement.
Hoping the course is worth the price.

Actually I was looking for "learning subscription courses" from oracle which includes OCMJEA certifications & related courses (covering mandatory requirements), I could not see this on Oracle website.

Thanks,
