Hi all,

I was surprised to look at the contents of the OCP Study Guide (Jeanne Boyarsky, Scott Selikoff) and see no real mention of Generics.
Also very little in the way of Collections.

Can you tell me is this not on the Java 11 OCP I/II exam?
I'm sure when I did OCA 8 it was featured heavily.

Thanks,
EMG

Welcome to the Ranch Have you been through Oracle's website about the 1Z0-815 exam? I didn't see generics mentioned.

I assume you are talking about the 815 (OCP 11 Part 1) book. If so, generics are used with collections; just like on the OCA 8.

The "heavy" content was on OCP *9 and is on OCP 11 part 2. So it will be in our 816 book. (Writing your own generics, using bounds, etc)

In the 1z0-815 exam I took (and failed) I did need generics. I thought I didn't need to study generics, but I was wrong. I got a question about overloading and overriding generic methods, which unfortunately I had not clue how to answer. The Enthuware tests also feature questions about generic methods, with bounds and wildcards. If you are going to take the test, I recommend that you at least know how generic methods work, and how the generics affect overloading and overriding.
