guys how to write it correct i need to check the day in the week of the date that i am getting and return it
0-6 is the days

I wouldn't use the Date class.  Have a look at LocalDate.

Because this is homework?  That's the only good reason not to use LocalDate.

So, what should the method take as a parameter and what should it return?  Explain to me as if I were five.  This will make it clear how the code the method.  

For instance, you have Date d as a parameter, but you never use it.  Another thing: you use two ifs to set monthz, then on line 13 you set it back to month.
