Do it the same way you would run any other process from the OS: with Runtime.exec() or better with a ProcessBuilder. Don't go anywhere near Runtime.exec() until you have understood the classic article by Michael Daconta. The same principles apply to a ProcessBuilder.
Whether it is or isn't a good idea to run a Unix command from a Java® program is a different question.
