I am trying to use places API for my android app to find nearby places and the current device location. The problem is the android SDK recommended by Google itself does not support this function and I have to try to implement somehow the Places API into my app. When I read their docs it just shows only a line of code, more precisely a link containing the parameters needed for search. The question is how should I implement or what would be the code of reading this link and transferring the containing data to a map? Optionally, how would be possible to add markers as well?

I am really confused. Google deprecated the old library and added this SDK that they try to push into everywhere, however it seems to be poor in functionalities. I have found a library designed for that called java-google-maps-services. It was not much of a help though.
I will suppress my every urge. But not this shameless plug:
Java file APIs (DOC, XLS, PDF, and many more)
