For first, I do not really understand differencies between AI & ML, is it not the same? Every AI works just after learning of lots of examples, so why it is AI and not ML ?
Since I am a college student, which cources (subjects) can be relevant to learn more about AI?
Thank you!

With some simplification, Machine Learning is a branch of the Artificial Intelligence which aims to develop methods able to make automatic system to learn models and algorithms from data without explicitly programming, while AI aims to develop .. well, an autonomous artificial intelligent agents: such agents should be able to act and reason just like (or better) than humans.
Why should you be interested in AI ? Well, being a machine learning / ai expert may be useful to find a good job, but beside that, I think that it' mostly a matter of passion.
I've always been really interested on AI, and I developed my graduate thesis on a AI topic - bayesian inference: but I'm pretty sure I'll never work in that field. Nevertheless, I'm really eager to read books, articles, and so on . Why ? Just for passion, that more or less it's the only thing one should follow....

bayesian inference is a really elementar topic, and so powerful, is unbelievable how many logistic regression problems can be tackled with bayesan inference, although is important to always compare the results, in this kind of problems

Machine learning as per today is at the core of artificial intelligence. You have a system, let's say a robot, and this robot does not know nothing( have to be switch on and programmed), you give to this robot not some code, in the classical way, as if you  do X then execute Y kind of instructions, but you say to the robot, ehy I have a general algorithm that can make you learn new things on the basis of your "artificial" intelligence. Basically I want my robot to be able to pour me coffee in my cup, so I give him a lot of attempt to learn that were made to pour the coffee, some were good and other were bad. If I make clear to the robot what I mean for good and what I mean for bad, and I give him enough attempts, and also the possibility to "learn himself" he will be able to pour the coffee or drive a car.

why you should do? because is fascinating, is an old concept but really powerful with the hardware we have today, and it offer you the possibility to use simple templates to do so, but also if you like to really dive inside the mathematics behind, and you could end up to read a lot of scientific papers as a nice fun activity, a nice to have. Of course if you want to be professional, then.. you also need to know the math behind and study really hard a lot of beautiful math concepts

Hi, everyone,
If you want to learn more about AI and ML, you can meet up with some experts regularly.
I am a volunteer for Washington DC quantum computing meetup group.
We have monthly meetings on any day between Mon-Thur , 19:00-21:00 America Eastern Standard Time.

Our upcoming meeting is online, which is about AI and quantum computing. The meeting will be on March 23rd in US.
Please sign up for free at https://www.meetup.com/Washington-Quantum-Computing-Meetup/

Our April meeting will be in DC and online as well. It will be on April 7th in US. Please stay updated on our posts.

Thanks for your participation.

Ofcourse, because machine learning comes under AI..AI is a bigger concept and machine learning is one of the things that come under it.

Look! I laid an egg! Why does it smell like that? Tiny ad, does this smell weird to you?
