I'm trying to check if there is an existing id with a task name. If not, it should create a new task. I can't figure out what is wrong. Looks like it the problem will start on line 96. I'm still new to this, so please be forgiving. Thank you for your help.

You can use the android.util.Log class to print output -like the values of all involved variables, e.g. taskName and mTaskId- to the logcat. That way you can check that they have indeed the values that you think they should have.

Are the addTask and deleteTask methods ever called? From where?
