Hello!
Last month I lost my sheduled exam due to pandemic. I know there is possibility to take this certification online from home, but I feel it iffy. What if my internet connection goes wrong and I will become disconnected? Is laptop camera enough for this? Can I use laptop with extern keyboard and monitor? Do somebody look at me all the time? And so on.
Is it worthy to take this exam online if I have no other possibilities?
Normally I would wait until pandemic ends, but if I dont take this exam as soon as possible, I will lost my student job as a programmer.
Thanks in advance!

Doesn't look like you have a choice in that case! Do it on your laptop and connect your laptop to your mobile's wifi hotspot. That way you won't have to worry about power and/or internet outage, assuming your laptop and phone batteries will last a couple of hours

Yes, someone will be watching you but don't worry about that. Just focus on answering the questions and you will be fine. Do read their instructions for online proctored exam carefully and then set up your room and desk accordingly.

Thank you for answer, Paul!
Do you think 2,5 hours of live video is not so much consuming, that it will be enough to use mobile traffic? I have limited mobile traffic per month, just 5 gb.
By the way, I did today foundation test for second time and received only 55%. First time was in February but even worse. Dont really know how much time I still need for learning for OCA since now is already fifth month..?

Shouldn't be more than a GB because the picture wouldn't change much. (Disclaimer - I haven't checked it and my guess may be way off here!). Is it possible for you to buy a few additional GBs like for a day? For example, in India, one can typically buy anywhere between 1 GB tp 5GB of 4G data (called "topup") for a very low one time charge on top of their existing plan.

55% on foundation is low. But the fact that you are already in the fifth month of your preparation worries me more. TBH, I am not sure what to advise in this situation.
What kind of questions did you miss? Do you find it hard to retain facts? Or is the the application?

Mike,
You might also see if you can get an extension for the student job. A lot of places are being understanding and accommodating.

We are getting a lot of queries regarding the Online Proctored exam option for taking the Java Certification exams. A few of our trainees have taken the certification exam in their homes / offices recently and we have shared their experiences in this article.

One of our trainees from India has also shared the pictures of the room/set up in which they took the test. I hope this will help students in deciding whether this option is suitable for them.
