Running code without blocking Ui thread

Hey,

I want to run a piece of code periodically after every 10 seconds.

       Disposable timer = Observable.interval(10, TimeUnit.SECONDS)
                .timeInterval()
                .subscribeOn(Schedulers.io())
                .observeOn(AndroidSchedulers.mainThread())
                .subscribe(new Consumer<Timed<Long>>() {
                    @Override
                    public void accept(@NonNull Timed<Long> longTimed) throws Exception {
                        //your code here.
                       calculate Data()
                    }
                });

I have tried this. But problem which I am facing is I am getting a flickering effect in the main activity. If somebody can tell me solution for the same.
