Hi Campbell! Thanks for the question. No, you don't need to know anything about Spring before reading the book. The purpose of Spring Quickly is to get you started with Spring from zero. So it's mainly designed for developers with zero or little knowledge of Spring. But it will get you up and running shortly with everything you need to know to be able to work on a production-ready Spring app.
