OCP Study Guide binding fault

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put this. Apologies if it's not.

I picked up Selikoff and Boyarsky's OCP guide a few months ago and have just had a proper look at it. It turns out my copy has a major binding fault:
between pages 142 and 191 there are 47 pages (numbered 171 to 218) of what looks like a completely different book.

I can't see any mention of that here so I'm guessing that this is maybe a dodgy first print run that has since been fixed? Is anyone aware whether the publishers will replace the faulty copy?

I'm not sure what to do at this point. All my studies to this point have been in Java 8 and I found the OCA counterpart to the OCP book  excellent. Would it be best to just take the hit and jump up to Java 11 for my continuing studies?

Any insight or advice would be most welcome.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Ranch

I don't now where you are writing from, but in this country you would have a contract with the supplier and a statutory right to return the book as faulty. Please contact whoever supplied the book first.

Thanks for the welcome.

Unfortunately I got it from Amazon back in July and it's outside of the return window now. Oh well, teach me to take more notice early on, I guess.

No, it's faulty. Say, “sale of goods act,” or whatever the equivalent is where you live.

[eit]Corrected spelling error and HTML tag.

There will be plenty of time to discuss your objections when and if you return. The cargo is this tiny ad:
