Does Spark automatically prevent data loss if Spark streaming job goes down and comes back up?

In Spark streaming kafka integration, when Spark goes down and comes back up, what will happen to the data which kafka had already sent but that time Spark was down. Will spark automatically prevent data loss or one has to do something for that?
