Ahoy !
I passed 1Z0-819 a few hours ago (78%). Here is a little feedback for those who are planning to take it too.
Background : I work as a
Java developer since 2016 and passed 1Z0-808 three years ago (97%). I initially planned on taking 1Z0-816 but had to change my plans after it was discontinued.
Preparation steps :
tried Sybex OCP J11 Programmer II Study Guide Assessment Test (score 32%)read the whole Sybex OCP J11 Programmer II Study Guidetook notes while reading the book on what was not intuitive to meread the supplemental material on doPrivileged() from Scott's blogdeveloped a small personal project making use of modules, streams, ... only with a text editor and a terminaltried all chapter tests (score between 32% and 90%) and took a lot of notes on what I didn't memorize from reading the booktried the two exams from the book (65% & 55%) and took a lot of notes again when correctingwent through all the Flash Cardstried 5 tests from Enthuware (score between 69% and 79%) and then again took a lot of notes when correctingalways had a small main method under my hand when studying to test pieces of codereread all my notes the day before the exam and had a good night of sleep !
Few notes about the exam itself :
questions and difficulty were similar to Enthuware's tests (I wish I had more time to do all of them and score higher)strike-through is goneresults are displayed immediately after the exam is finishedone question included Callable Statements even though it was supposed to be removed from objectivesmost important : the clock, the clock, the clock... you really have to be fast so don't go there tired, really !
Good luck !
