I have seen this happening occasionally from time to time and never understood why it happens.
Sometimes, although the thread shows some name as the "Last posted by" (screenshot attached)

However, on clicking the link, it does not show any post by that user (screenshot attached)

In such cases, does it show the "last posted by" in error or someone has posted but it is not visible in error?

And, the link which I am talking about as an example is  https://coderanch.com/t/737301/databases/Map-Reduce-components-hadoop-lot. The screenshot below in the email is what is visible to me on clicking this link. I dont see any post by that user. I am not sure if it is only me to whom it is not visible.

Thanks.

The staff members at CodeRanch curate the posts that members post here so that people can easily find related topics when they have a question. Sometimes this involves splitting off-topic discussions to a topic of their own, or removing posts that don't have a place here at all.

Such operations sometimes have side-effects such as displaying a different last poster than you expect. Call it "a glitch in the matrix".

Thanks.Understood. I was thinking that someone has posted but because of some issue it is not visible to me. I have seen this happening rarely once in few months.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
