Hi,
since MDB's resides in the EJB container, WAS 4.0 EJB container doesnt support MDB's.

Message Driven Beans (MDB) is a feature of the EJB 2.0 specification.
Websphere Application Server 4.x does not implement
the EJB 2.0 specification.
Websphere Application Server 4.x does support MDB's.
Websphere Application Server 5.x supports MDB's.
