Hi Jeanne and Scott

I got Java 8 certified. Thanks to your book.
Do you recommend taking the Java 11 upgrade exam (1Z0-817) instead of the normal exam (1Z0-819)?
I see that the Java 11 upgrade exam has 30 questions more than the normal exam. In fewer topics than the normal exam, though.
Do you know what is the difference in terms of difficulty of the questions?

I believe the 1Z0-817 exam to be significantly easier than the 1Z0-819 exam.  In part, because it has less topics but you also have more time per question.  The questions tend to be easier too.  The most challenging part of the 1Z0-819 is the time limit.  You have to read/answer a lot of questions is a relatively short time.  I recommend the 1Z0-817 exam if that's an option for you.

You are right. I've been looking for insights on the Upgrade exam over the Web.

The Upgrade exam has the double of time and 61% passing score. Effectively the number of correct answers for passing the exams are:
- Upgrade exam: 49
- Normal exam: 34.
Thank you Scott, I appreciate your recommendation.
