Are exception messages not printed on console by default if not caught

In Java if I do not catch an exception, by default it will get printed on console.
In Python I was writing to a path, it was not showing any error nor was it working.When I put an exception handling try block , and put a print statement to print the exception it printed output folder already exists.

In Java whenever I do not put any exception handling still it gets printed on console (I belive this is done by default handler )
Do exceptions not get printed by default on console by default ?
