Are you using Websphere 5?
Check whether you configured JAAS Authetication alias from Server configuration if your application is not passing connection authetication parameters.
Configure this Alias with DataSource.

I've got the same error... I did have an alias with a password associated with the data source. The alias and password were set up in the server configuration under the security tab. I checked it's stored in the security.xml and server.xml correctly... but still got the error. What else can cause this?? HELP!!!

I have been having the same problem as well but there is a text file which lists authorized users to have access to the JNDI

Example of my client.txt file

I am able to have access to my datasource now.
