Looking at your book topics, and collaborating on code, I was wondering if you have any thoughts on knowledge transfers and training? Is there an effective way to keep team members up to speed, or train team members on certain topics / technologies.
Each company has a unique setup, and unique way of doing things. That "tribal knowledge" can be learned by doing but sometimes it helps to get training. Having that knowledge is especially useful when problems arise.
I feel Training Meetings are marginally effective, most of the time people are busy and only half listening. I'm currently leaning more towards just creating knowledge base articles. Breaking down the info in a similar format across each article. When individuals want to learn they can refer to the articles and explore it on their own on some test servers. Most technical people I feel are very tactile learners, they need to learn by doing and poorly planned/disorganized meetings don't cut the mustard.
Your book is like what we as employees bring to the table, but I feel like there is a big part that the company needs to bring to the table too in order to help employees operate at their best.
