Hi,
Im trying to test a simple JMS application within WSAD 5.1 (trial version) using the embedded messaging in Windows 2000. When I try to start my server within WSAD Im getting following exception. Some one suggested that it might be a installation problem and I uninstalled the WebSphere MQ and tried to run my server within WSAD and got the same exception. So I think WSAD 5.1 is not recognizing the installed WebSphere MQ in my computer. So,
1.Do Ive to do any configuration so that WSAD 5.1 knows about the WebSphere MQ?
2.Do Ive to first install WebSphere MQ then install WSAD 5.1?
Any pointers would help me a lot.
Thanks for your help
-Mat

Hi Matt,
It does kinda look like an install problem. Did you install MQ separately prior to installing WebSphere Studio? I have found the easiest approach is to use the MQJD inside WebSphere Studio. The next easiest is to install the Embedded MQ that comes along with the installation CD. I have used both of those options successfully.
Good luck. You may want to consider uninstalling the whole mess, rebooting and starting fresh. You might also consider saving your workspace first in case you have some work you don't want to lose.

Hi Howard,
Thanks for the response.
I uninstalled Websphere MQ and reinstalled and everything worked fine. Since I'm using JMS in two different processes (a server with JMS and a client connecting to the server to send messages) within WSAD 5.1 I can't use the MQJD.
In WSAD 5.1 I can choose in the JMS tab I've following options for JMS provider: Disable, MQJD, Embeeded Messaging. When I choose "Disable" everything works fine. When I choose Embeeded Messaging then during server startup I'm getting following error. But my client can connect to the Q and send messages. The error message says that I didn't install the Embeeded Messaing Server support. I installed the Websphere MQ that comes in the CD.
Please let me know if I miss any configuration? Also how come it works if I choose JMS Provider Disable option?
Thanks
-Mat

Hi Mat,
It looks like the problem is indeed with your MQ installation.
If you want to test MDB's for example within the WebSphere Test Enviroment of WebSphere Studio Application Developer, then I would encourage you to install the embedded messaging client and server that comes on the WebSphere Studio Application Developer V5.0 trial CD. Once you have your WebSphere Studio workbench installed, put the installation CD back in the drive and this time select Install embedded messaging client and server from the WebSphere Studio Installation Launcher. It should be listed as an option directly below Install IBM Agent Controller, and above Install Rational CleasCase LT.
I am not sure what you are talking about when you mention the embedded messaging in Windows 2000. I suspect you are correct when you observe that WebSphere Studio does not recognize your MQ installation. Try the one that comes with the WebSphere Studio installation CD instead.
Let me know how that works for you.

I found it hard to use websphere MQ and embedded messaging on the same machine and Kyle recommended that it shouldnt be on the same machine.
Other than that i have successfully tested my beans on embedded and websphere MQ on the same and different machines. The platform i used is Win2k, WAS 5.0(also WASD5.0) and Webpshere MQ 5.3
for MQ i installed WASD first than embedded messaging and than WAS.

I've got the same problem! Wondered if anyone had figured out the solution (ok this was an old post)

I have WSAD 5.1.2 installed on my pc and I'm trying to use embedded messaging to communiacate with my test server... I installed the embedded messaging client and server direct from the cd and it's not working. I've deinstalled and reinstalled the embedded messaging but it's made zero difference.... Any clues?
