Hi All,

Required Technical advice.

Java applet program is not supported by Edge browser due to security concern. one of the Document Scanner functionality is working in applet program in our web application. Please provide the technical advise to rewrite the program.

Our web application is running strut frame work.  We tried below concept which is not working properly .

1. Used JNLP access the applet program which is not worked in edge ( But working fine in IE 11)
2. used Scanner.js it is working fine but which is license version.

Applets are gone, and I believe JNLP is on its way out, too. But if "Scanner.js" is working, why not use that? It's likely cheaper to license that than to spend who knows how many developer hours in trying to make obsolete technologies work.

As to "technical advise to rewrite the program", we don't have a clue what this software does, exactly, so we couldn't hazard a guess as to what might be needed.

Interaction with client devices is a rather specialized purpose for a web page. Can you tell us why it's not feasible for the user to scan using whatever desktop software they have, and then just upload the image/s on your web site? On macOS, the Preview app can do this, and on Windows, Windows Scan is freely available from Microsoft.
