Hello everyone,

I would like to ask about the best pathway to get the new OCP certificate for java 11.
Honestly, it's a little confusing to get the up-to-date resource from amazon, especially after Oracle discontinued the 1Z0-815 and 1Z0-816 exams.

I have time to wait if there is a new resource coming.

my amazon has several confusing stuff:

https://www.amazon.ca/s?k=ocp&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

Thank you for your time.

Mustafa,
Welcome to CodeRanch!

You might recognize me from your Amazon search . In a nutshell, the 819 is the 815/816 combined with a few changes. Scott and I wrote a blog post that explains it. Be sure to read that as it gives you a little material you can skip and a little extra to read online

The key is you need both 815 and 816 study materials to prepare for the 819. (The Complete Study Guide is the best way to get that.) I would be surprised if there are new resources coming since Java 17 (the next LTS) comes out in September.

You might want to check out this article explaining a couple of preparation strategies for OCP Java 11 1Z0-819 exam as well

(Edited to fix the link.)

Thank you so much, this is really helpful. For sure, your name is well known whenever I search for something related to Java certificates

Just one more thing to ask, is there a book (in the future) that specifically targetting 1z0-819 exam?

Our practice test book came out after the switch from 815/816 so it is organized around the 819 (and removed the out of scope topics/added the new ones.) But it isn't meant to be read standalone. Remember the material for the 815/816 is virtually the same as the 819. And writing a book is time consuming and expensive (gotta publish it). That's why we wrote the blog post about the differences. So people could continue to use the CSP.

I searched on Amazon for 819 and the only hits were the combined 815/816 study guide and the practice books. Typically books are listed on Amazon before they publish which suggests that nobody else is going to write one. And remember that Java 17 comes out in September. I don't know when the OCP 17 will come out but at this point, I'd expect anyone looking at writing cert material to have an eye towards that version.
