How do I turn String "28,5892.22" into Double?

Is there any fast way how I can do it? Typing doesn't work, unfortunately.

The method is called Double#parseDouble(). Once you get rid of the commas, it is really easy to use. That assumes you are using the comma as a thousands separator and the dot as the decimal point; in many non‑English‑speaking European countries, the two punctuation marks have the opposite meanings.

Piet's suggestion works nicely, but moves the comma; I think commas go four places left of the decimal point in India and three places left in UK and USA.

Note that the String replace method makes it easy to get rid of the commas.

There are other schemes, also. I think it's Peru that can represent numbers in the form 123'4567'8901 and I forget what they use for decimal marking.
