Hi Jeanne, hi Scott,

How much time did you spent writing the book (each of you separately)?

There are 2 books out there, the OCP study guide and the exam practice questions, so how much for each?

Thanks,
André

André,
We each spent a lot of time! I don't track my hours. After all, I don't have to submit a timesheet .

We are currently working on the practice exam book. As for the price, of the study guide, check on Amazon. I think it varies by country. Also, Amazon fiddles with prices often.

Ah thanks - was actually asking for the time on each book, not for their price. I had a look on prices and saw that two together are offered at a higher price than the sum of each separately ;-) - silly offering.

Good for you, not having to track time on timesheets ))

But could you think of roughly how much time that consumes?
Are you daily working on this or more like some bulk time?
And what would be the overall time - I mean with all other task, like an elapsed or time period, if that makes sense. I just wonder how much time such work takes.

Would be great to get a bit details on it if you can.

Thank you either way! Great work, good stuff - highly appreciated.

Jeanne and I also both have full-time jobs.. which means we really only work at nights or on weekends (mostly on weekends).  That said, it takes a lot of time and involves a lot of editors over months to write any book!

Oh! Yeah, it's a lot of time. I probably spent on average 15 hours a week. But that was because we had an existing book to update. I spent more time on our Java 8 book.

I try to spend chunks of time on the weekend and do easy tasks after work.

Oh wow - that is what I thought, of course you have full time jobs too.
So again thank you for your commitment and your efforts are highly appreciated, in regards to the bit of money you get from those kind of specialised books.

Thank you for your detailed answers as well.
